Mixed evidence
Real evidence at doses far above what is sold — and its legal position in Pakistan is the first problem.
This is information, not medical advice. This page is information, not medical advice. Nothing here is a prescription, a diagnosis or a recommendation to take anything, and none of it replaces a doctor who knows your history. Supplements are not harmless because they are natural: they interact with prescription medicines, some are unsafe in pregnancy, and a few can cause real damage. Talk to a doctor or pharmacist before starting anything here, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, under 18, have a liver, kidney or heart condition, or take any regular medication. Never stop a prescribed antidepressant to try a supplement instead.
A non-intoxicating compound from cannabis, sold as oil, capsules and drinks in many countries.
The strongest evidence is in rare childhood epilepsy, where a purified prescription form is licensed. For anxiety there are some positive trials, notably in public-speaking stress, but at doses many times higher than typical shop products contain. Retail CBD is also notoriously variable, with independent testing repeatedly finding less than the label claims.
Anxiety studies commonly used 300 to 600 mg in a single dose. Retail oils often deliver a few tens of milligrams per day.
Recorded because a person who has decided to try something will find a number somewhere, and a forum's number is worse than a trial's. It is not a recommendation, and the right amount for you depends on things only a doctor who knows your history can weigh.
Legal status first: cannabis is a controlled substance in Pakistan and CBD is not openly and legally sold here, so buying or importing it can carry real legal consequences. Medically, it interacts with a long list of drugs through the liver, including some epilepsy medicines and blood thinners, and raised liver enzymes have been seen in trials. Causes drowsiness and diarrhoea.
Do not treat this as an ordinary supplement here. If you are considering it, the legal question comes before the medical one.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about everything else you take, prescription and herbal both. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, under 18, or have a liver, kidney, heart or thyroid condition, ask first. And if what brought you here is that you have been feeling low or frightened for weeks, that deserves more than a supplement — ask us anything, anonymously, or talk to us on WhatsApp.
